General Membership Meeting

MINUTES                                                

1.     Carla Madison, City Council Representative - Carla talked about the following issues she is working on:

• Zoning issues
• Refurbishing the Welton corridor
• Gang-related issues. There are on-going meetings.
• Inspection services - lack of quick service. Section 8 housing.
• Elbra's office staff is still working. They are good contacts and can expedite services.
• Gina, from Cole, is working on a health/fitness initiative and would like to partner with Whittier
• Transportation issues - commitment of RTD to extension of the light rail. Roads are decaying.
• Retaining commercial pockets. Loss of community use.

2. Chris Hinkel - The Whittier house tour and block party will take place on Saturday, October 6th. They are looking for business sponsorships. Contact Chris at chinkel@kw.com for more information and if you'd like to volunteer to help plan the tour and party.

3. Police Department - They have received grants for foot patrols and bikes. On July 4th there will be 60 SCAT officers and firefighters deployed to deal with illegal fireworks.
